About the role
The position serves as a Purchasing Agent for the Logistics Service in a Veteran Affairs Health Care System (VA HCS) and supported catchment area.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes different ordering, reporting procedures, and purchasing methods depending on the type, quantity, dollar value, and urgency of the requirement.
- Provides excellent customer service to medical staff, customers, vendors, and contractors and resolves issues in an expeditious manner to ensure requests and bills are processed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Procures supplies and services to meet the purchase, rental, or lease needs of the organization.
- Conducts open market research for purchases of routine equipment, supplies, and services.
- Utilize Microsoft Office to create, edit and aggregate data necessary for expense tracking and Supply Chain management reporting.
- Serves as the first line of contact for medical staff and customers regarding procured items. Provides clerical support and coordination to approve officials and administrators.
- Performs a variety of receptionist, timekeeping, record keeping and miscellaneous duties in medical facility.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-6 LEVEL YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING: You must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5) in Federal service, that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) needed to successfully perform the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to this Supply Technician position to be filled. Qualifying experience includes: Applies procurement laws, policies, and guidelines to support purchasing activities for a research program. Utilizes various procurement methods, including purchase cards and contract documentation, to acquire supplies, equipment, and services. Maintains complete documentation for all research-related procurements, including quotes, cost estimates, source lists, invoices, receiving reports, obligation numbers, and scopes of work. Independently reviews and reconciles procurements to ensure fund availability, accurate account charging, and correct cost center and accounting code assignments. Resolves procurement discrepancies such as incorrect, damaged, or incomplete shipments and missing receiving reports. Provides direct procurement support to researchers, ensuring timely acquisition of necessary supplies and equipment. Prepares and distributes year-to-date cost and expenditure reports for the Research Service and investigators. (THIS EXPERIENCE MUST BE SUPPORTED BY YOUR RESUME TO BE CREDITABLE.)
