Purchasing Agent

About the role

The Purchasing Agent at Tessera is responsible for purchasing goods and services according to contract policies and procedures. This role involves coordinating with managers to maintain inventory levels, evaluating vendors, forecasting demand, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with purchasing documents.

Responsibilities

• Purchase goods and services according to the contract requirements.
• Cook with managers to maintain inventory levels.
• Evaluate vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.
• Work with appropriate teams to forecast the level of demand for services and products to meet business needs.
• Continuously analyze inventory usage and balances.
• Ensure that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.
• Manage day-to-day business relationships with key suppliers through supporting activities including ordering, communication of demand/volume/delivery time changes, issue resolution, sharing of end user feedback, and follow-up on backorders.
• Maintain pricing history and other vendor records.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in purchasing, finance, or business preferred.
• Three (3) years of purchasing experience preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• A thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance.
• Must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
• Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
• Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

• A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
• Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
