Purchasing Agent
Job Summary
As a member of the Regal Holdings family, the West Bend Company seeks a dedicated Purchasing Agent to join our team. We are looking for someone who believes in the values of our company and is passionate about ensuring the availability of raw materials and components to support our customers.
About the Role
The Purchasing Agent plays a crucial role in maintaining a steady supply of raw materials and components to ensure timely delivery of customer orders. This position involves sourcing strategies, supplier relationships, and managing the entire supply chain process.
Responsibilities
- Ensure Raw Material & Purchased Components Availability of MRO and some production components
- Maintain steady and constant supply of raw materials, components, and finished goods to assure timely delivery of customer orders
- Responsible for location, evaluation, and selection of sources of supply for both new and existing raw materials
- Obtain and ensure correct lead-time information from vendors
- Execute Sourcing Strategy
- Reduce product costs & control inventory levels
- Resolve quality problems when vendor is responsible, and initiate charge backs pertaining to cost of defective materials, added labor expended, impact of substitution, incoming freight costs, etc.
- Recommend use of alternative or substitute materials where of value to drive cost and waste out of supply chain
- Gain & Maintain Supplier Relationships
- Visit vendor plants to ensure quality and production capabilities
- Research and investigate potential vendor companies
- Manage to ensure the best total landed price, quality, and delivery
- Maintain company’s reputation for integrity and fairness in all transactions with vendors, negotiating and performing value analysis on new and existing raw materials for management consideration
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business administration, economics, engineering, science, or other relevant field
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a buyer or purchasing agent with responsibility for purchases of MRO preferred or one or more major raw material requirements
- Experience in negotiations
- Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills
