About the role
MMR is seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our team based in Brookhaven, MS.
Responsibilities
- Evaluating suppliers by considering price, quality, availability, and other criteria
- Interviewing vendors and visiting suppliers’ facilities to learn about products, services, and pricing
- Negotiating contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best deals on behalf of the company
- Verifying purchases by comparing them to a master list and recommending alternatives for expensive or irrelevant products
- Interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors
- Authorizing payments and maintaining receipts, records, and inventories
- Attending industry trade shows to learn about and stay current on trends and to meet suppliers
- Managing relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery, and compliance to terms of contracts
- Keeping information accessible by sorting and filing documents
- Purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
Requirements
- BS degree in related field preferred
- 3-5 years relevant work experience required
- Experience in procurement within a construction setting preferred
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, organize, problem solve, and exercise good judgement with minimal supervision
- Ability to coordinate a variety of projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated flexibility and creativity
- Working knowledge of MS Office software
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Able to work effectively under time pressure and/or deadline
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to work flexible, varying hours, including evenings and weekends as needed

Pay
Salary range for this position is $40,000 - $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
The role requires flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
