Purchaser (Hiring Event - Austin)
About the role
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is seeking a Purchaser III to join our Business Operations Division, in the Purchasing and HUB Services unit located at 1117 Trinity Street in Austin. Responsibilities
The Purchaser III performs complex (journey-level) purchasing and procurement work. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
- Review requisitions for completeness and compliance with applicable requirements prior to processing
- Process Purchase Orders (POs) and send correspondence needed to procure selected goods and services
- Determine appropriate Centralized Masters Bidders List vendors to solicit or select state term contract vendors
- Enter all necessary information into agency PeopleSoft financial system
- Communicate with requesters, accounting, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods and services
- Work with requesters, subject matter experts, stakeholders, agency staff and purchasing staff to coordinate or resolve purchasing related issues
- Initiate, approve, and process emergency purchases
- May provide guidance to others
- Perform related work as assigned
Requirements
The ideal candidate has strong verbal and written skills, excellent customer service, is a team player, and must be able to work in the Austin, TX office 5 days a week. Selected candidates must be able to maintain a reliable and consistent work schedule for weekly meetings and group collaboration. Proficiency in digital communication tools (like Microsoft Teams) is also required.
- Must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas
- Must not require sponsorship for an employment visa, including those with H1B visas or those currently on student or postgraduate visas
Qualifications
One year and six months of experience in the purchasing and procurement of goods and services. Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
- Certified Texas Contract Developer (CTCD) is preferred
- Experience in government purchasing, specifically in information technology and/or facility services/maintenance purchases is preferred
