About the role
Pupil Transportation Assistants are scheduled to work at least 27.5 hours/week and work 30 hours/week on average. They assist in the supervision of physically handicapped, non-ambulatory, and students with severe behavioral issues during the bus ride and any necessary transfers.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the supervision of physically handicapped, non-ambulatory, and students with severe behavioral issues during the bus ride and any necessary transfers.
- Maintains safety.
- Assists in securing wheelchairs and safety restraints.
- Assists with operating the wheelchair lift.
- Makes sure students are monitored for seizures or breathing difficulties.
- Assists the bus driver with all medical emergencies.
- Keeps track of student possessions.
- Maintains discipline.
- Assists in evacuating students during emergency or practice drills.
Qualifications
- Equivalent to a high school diploma.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
- CPR Certification required.
Compensation
- Salary range: Grade 16, Schedule A $14.59 (entry step), Schedule B $17.54 (entry step).
