About the role
The Punch Truck Operator is central to guardrail installations along roadways. They set the crew’s pace, ensure safe and standards-compliant installations, and operate specialized equipment.
Responsibilities
- Operate a drop hammer or vibratory post pounder for guardrail installation.
- Drive the Punch Truck to and from work sites.
- Support layout and setup of guardrail installations, collaborating with the foreman and crew for efficient progress.
- Load and unload materials to support daily operations.
- Use power tools or manual digging when conditions prevent Punch Truck use.
Requirements
- CDL Class A or ability to obtain certification within the first 2 months of employment.
- 2–5 years of heavy equipment operation experience.
- 2 years of commercial driving experience.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
Nice to Have
- Mechanic experience with hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
- Prior guardrail installation experience.
- Heavy highway construction experience.
Pay
$31–$36/hour, depending on qualifications and experience (US pay range).
