About the role
This position involves operating a specialized commercial vehicle to apply liquid asphalt or emulsion onto road surfaces. The role requires driving and maneuvering the tack truck safely, while adhering to all relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
- Safely drive and maneuver the tack truck.
- Operate controls to regulate the spray bar's width, height, and the application rate of the emulsion.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections (DVIR).
- Adhere to all FMCSA, USDOT, and OSHA regulations regarding material handling and vehicle operation.
- Clean excess asphalt from the truck, clean and adjust spray bars, and perform routine maintenance like checking fluid levels and tire pressure.
- Work directly with the paving foreman and paver operator to ensure continuous material supply.
- Absorb and assist the ground crew with cleanup, shoveling, or traffic control when not actively spraying tack.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen with a “Negative” result.
- Must be able to complete a post-offer physical with a “Capable” result.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.

Negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
