Primary Summary

The primary function of this position is to operate heavy duty power press’ to produce quality parts per specifications while observing Health, Safety, and Environmental responsibilities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Selects and positions special purpose die sets into ram and bed of machine.
  • Aligns and bolts dies to ram and bed of machine.
  • Adjusts depth and pressure of ram stroke.
  • Performs set up on progressive and single station dies.
  • Performs first article inspection on set up parts and monitors parts through out the run to meet blueprint requirements using precision measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts shut heights, feeders, pilot release, lubrication systems, stock guides, scrap controls, safety systems, tapping units, die sensors, and air blow offs.
  • Uses gages and fixtures to test and inspect production parts.
  • Completes thoroughly required forms such as but not limited to; tooling work orders, manufacturing work orders and inspection forms.
  • Able to recognize cosmetic non-conformances based on Company specifications such as; burrs, galling, cracked edges, slug marks, dimensional changes in production parts and initiate action to prevent non-conformance such as stopping the machine and notifying Supervisor.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace following 5S department procedures.
  • Complies with Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
  • Attends all training provided and adheres to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.
  • Buys any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
  • Continually seeks opportunities to improve our ISO 14001 standards and HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.

Education And/or Experience

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or four years apprenticeship; or four years equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Read and interpret blueprints or other job specifications.
  • Ability to make all inspections on machined parts using precision measuring equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of press controls, e-stop, basic feeder settings and light curtains.

Skills And Abilities

  • Computer Skills – Basic mainframe computer systems and familiar with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to understand, follow and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Tool room and Punch Press personnel.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers.
  • Must be able to calculate parts per hour and to record total quantities on Work Order Tally Sheet.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to reason and provide solutions to problems using concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, licenses, registrations

  • Evidence of “US person” is required under ITAR.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 29 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • The responsibilities of the position include compliance with company and governmental safety, environmental and hazardous materials regulations and procedures.
  • Employee will be required to wear personal safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, or proper footwear PPE in specified areas.

  • Immediately correcting, whenever possible, or reporting to his or her superiors and/or the HSE department, any malfunction or risky situation in the fields of health, safety and environmental protection
  • Implementing preventive actions to reduce the environmental footprint and control health and safety risks
  • Participate, upon request, in analyses (of risks, incidents) and HSE working groups related to his/her professional scope
  • Be familiar with the main health and safety risks and the main environmental impacts relating to the scope of his/her work
  • Be familiar with the site's HSE policy and objectives

Pay Range

$25-30 Per Hour
