Pumps and Rods Field Service Technician

About the Role

The Fiber Glass Technician performs all duties related to inspecting, installing, servicing, and repairing customer pumps and related equipment. This role involves both pump and rod responsibilities, including disassembly, repair, and reassembly of pumps with minimal supervision, as well as the installation and inspection of fiberglass rods and other well-completion products.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, repair, and assemble pumps and related products in the pump shop.
• Handle sucker rods and apply general oil field supply products and safety systems equipment.
• Deliver and pick up customer pumps requiring repair; assist in loading and unloading pump, safety, and rod product freight.
• Obtain signed approval of delivery tickets from customers and complete all required paperwork for pump, rod, and equipment transactions.
• Complete Pump Service Records (PSR) for all new or repaired pumps serviced in the district.
• Discuss pump repairs with the Pump Shop Manager/Supervisor and prepare equipment price quotations for customers.
• Present well reports to customers and attend failure analysis meetings as needed.
• Install products such as steel rods, fiberglass rods, sinker bars, pumps, and shear tools for well completion.
• Execute rod delivery, inspection, and verify well spacing post-installation using standard procedures.
• Load, deliver, and navigate to job sites using paper maps and other navigation tools.
• Maintain a safe workplace, including shop cleanliness, housekeeping, and adherence to safety protocols.
• Handle customer service calls for equipment sales and service work, completing necessary paperwork.
• Ensure accuracy of inbound and outbound freight shipments and assist in maintaining shop inventory accuracy.
• Recommend inventory levels to the Shop Manager/Supervisor and monitor compliance with company goals.
• Maintain company-assigned vehicles in accordance with company policy.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2 years of oil field experience, or 1 year as an ELS Pump Shop Service Technician I or related oil field experience.

• Complete all work safely and follow all safety requirements to support the company’s TRIR goals.
• Adhere to all environmental requirements to support the company’s environmental performance goals.
• Complete and actively participate in all company safety training requirements.
• Maintain a clean driving record in accordance with company insurance policy.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods and sit or drive a vehicle for 2–4 hours at a time.
• Ability to maneuver in pump shops, warehouses, well sites, and other job locations.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely mount and dismount from the back of a truck and perform bending, reaching, kneeling, twisting, and gripping tasks.
• Manual dexterity and coordination to operate hand tools and mechanical tools such as a wench.
• Ability to work at a fast pace, tolerate changing priorities, and complete assignments despite frequent interruptions.
• Ability to respond to visual and aural cues.
• Ability to drive a one-ton pickup truck.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Work Environment

Work is primarily conducted within an ELS location during normal or extended business hours. The role may also require work at customer sites, including oil well sites and meeting venues, with extensive off-site travel as needed.
