Pumps and Rods Field Service Technician

About the role

The Fiber Glass Technician performs all duties related to fiber glass rod inspection and installation, as well as servicing and repairing customer pumps and related equipment. This role involves disassembling, repairing, and reassembling pumps with minimal supervision, handling oil field supply products, and ensuring safe and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, repair, and assemble pumps and related products in the pump shop.
• Properly handle sucker rods and apply general oil field supply products and safety systems equipment.
• Deliver and pick up customer pumps requiring repair.
• Assist in loading and unloading pump, safety, and rod product freight.
• Obtain signed approval of delivery tickets from customer personnel.
• Complete all required paperwork for pump, sucker rod, supply, and safety equipment transactions, including the Pump Service Record (PSR).
• Discuss pump repairs routinely with the Pump Shop Manager/Supervisor.
• Prepare and present equipment price quotations to customers.
• Present well reports and attend customer failure analysis meetings as needed.
• Install products such as steel rods, fiberglass rods, sinker bars, pumps, and shear tools for well completion.
• Execute general installations, rod delivery, rod inspection, and verify well spacing post-installation.
• Load and deliver steel rods, fiberglass rods, sinker bars, and shear tools using navigation tools and paper maps.
• Maintain a safe workplace, including housekeeping, shop cleanliness, and orderliness.
• Handle customer service calls for equipment sales and service work, completing necessary paperwork.
• Ensure accuracy of inbound and outbound freight shipments.
• Assist the Shop Manager/Supervisor in maintaining accurate shop inventory.
• Recommend inventory levels required for district operations and monitor compliance with company goals.
• Maintain the company-assigned vehicle according to company policy.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2 years of oil field experience, or 1 year as an ELS Pump Shop Service Technician I or related oil field experience.

• Maintain a clean driving record in accordance with company insurance policy.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to sit and/or drive a vehicle for 2 to 4 hours.
• Ability to maneuver through pump shops, warehouses, well sites, and other job sites.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely mount and dismount from the back of a truck, and bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items while working.
• Manual dexterity and coordination to operate hand tools and mechanical tools such as a wench.
• Ability to work at a fast pace and tolerate changing priorities despite frequent interruptions.
• Ability to respond to visual and aural cues.
• Ability to drive a one-ton pickup truck.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Travel Requirements

Up to 10% travel may be required.

Work Environment

Work is primarily conducted within an ELS location during normal or extended business hours. The role may also require work at customer sites, including oil well sites, meeting venues, and other locations as needed.
