About the role
Stratas Foods is a 50/50 joint venture formed in October 2008 between ACH Food Companies and Archer Daniels Midland Company. The company provides value-added, branded and custom-formulated fats and oils solutions to the Food Service, Food Ingredient and Retail sectors, with a focus on becoming the most valued supplier of fats, oils, dressings, mayonnaise and salad dressings in the U.S. private-label retail bottled oils market. Manufacturing facilities are located in Dallas and Houston, TX; Decatur and Quincy, IL; Englewood, NJ; Hillside, NJ; Fresno, CA; Nashville, TN; and Valdosta, GA, with corporate offices in Memphis, TN.
Responsibilities
- Control the tank farm area by handling rail car and tank wagon deliveries and shipments while prioritizing safety and following GMP, safety, regulatory, and company procedures.
- Follow all safety and GMP policies and procedures during daily duties.
- Record operating data such as products and quantities pumped, operating times, lot numbers, and seal numbers; complete required documentation.
- Unload bulk product and raw ingredients from railcars and tank wagons safely and in a timely manner to meet production demands.
- Steam railcars as necessary and ensure proper positioning and securing of railcars and tank wagons.
- Manufacture batches for use on production lines.
- Read and interpret formulas to determine product specifications, processing information, and technical details.
- Record production and test data for each food product batch, including ingredients, lot numbers, temperatures, and test results.
- Monitor and regulate gauges, recording instruments, flow meters, and thermometers to adjust raw material addition, mixing speeds, and maintain product quality and safe operations.
- Monitor product movement to and from storage tanks; coordinate activities to ensure constant product flow; replenish storage tanks to meet production schedules and avoid downtime.
- Support production by opening and closing product supply valves to filling systems upon request from machine operators.
- Patrol the work area to detect leaks, equipment malfunctions, and operating conditions; report deficiencies to the Material Flow Manager and Maintenance Supervisor.
- Take product samples for Quality Assurance Laboratory testing and use testing equipment to ensure compliance with specifications; document results and report deviations.
- Maintain knowledge of transfer valves, pumps, and related equipment used to move bulk products from manufacturing to run tanks.
- Clean and sanitize equipment necessary for food manufacturing and perform general housekeeping to comply with GMP and safety standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role and industry.
Physical demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, reach, stretch, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and balance.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; capable of lifting up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to work outside in environmental conditions that include extreme heat or cold.
- Extended periods of walking and standing; using hands and fingers; reaching, stretching, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
- Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, heat, sparks, oil, and smoke; personal protective equipment (safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, appropriate clothing) is required.
