About the role
Smith & Loveless is united under one cause: “Protecting Water. Protecting People.” We are seeking a Pump School Instructor to partner with our experienced production control teams in this environmentally focused industry.
Responsibilities
- Lead presenter for our Pump School Program. Travelling onsite to teach Pump School to professionals for continuing education credits.
- Leading day-long seminar to teach the mechanics, operation and uses of wastewater pumps.
- Ensure and confirm all the Pump School details are properly planned for success.
- Planning, Promoting, Executing and Following Up on all Pump School events.
- Travel to assist and consultant in setting up projects, attending trade shows and presenting pump schools.
- Manage and analyze registration and attendance data from the entire Pump School program and routinely report and/or present verbally and in writing.
- Follow-up with assigned Technical Representatives on inquiries and projects, tracking from inquiry to order.
- Train Representatives on equipment and how it operates and is maintained.
- Guide Consulting Engineers and End-Users on how existing equipment can be upgraded to current technology.
- Provide technical assistance to Representatives and Municipalities.
- Maintain open and effective line of communication between the sales representatives, application engineering group, and internal departments, promoting team effort, mediating differences, and improving interpersonal relationships and cooperation.
- Maintain effective line of communication with customers (including end users, contractors, and designers) as necessary for overall success.
- Serve as backup for other Retrofit personnel as required.
- Afford other duties as directed by the Retrofit Manager, Aftermarket Division.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or science discipline.
- 1 to 2 years of training and sales experience preferred. Preferably with a mechanical product.
- A background that includes knowledge of pumping, wastewater treatment, electrical control systems or other capital equipment is preferred.
- Experience in Engineering, or working for a Manufacturer's Rep firm, is a plus.
- The ability to work with and communicate with a variety of people in a positive, persuasive and professional manner is critical.
- Experience teaching - giving lengthy technical seminars to a large audience.
- Excellent presentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong technical teaching and technical writing skills. Microsoft Office Products, Maximizer CRM, and E-Mail skills.
- Organization & planning skills.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly in “high visibility” situations.
- A strong “hands on’ aptitude with mechanical systems is a plus.
