Pump Installer - Layne
General Summary
The pump installer is responsible for pump repair, installation, and troubleshooting of large water pumps at water well locations. Job preparation includes assembling parts, supplies, and materials. Training helpers and maintaining a safe working environment are also essential responsibilities.
Essential Job Accountabilities
- Responsible for pump repair, installation, and troubleshooting of water pumps
- Job preparation including assembling parts, supplies, and materials
- Training helpers and maintaining a safe working environment
- Responsible for maintaining and repairing company issued equipment
- Responsible for well rehabilitation efforts using chemicals and mechanical means
- Administrative work including reports, driving logs, timesheets
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 1-3 years previous pump installation and repair experience as Helper or Pump Installer
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working understanding of pumps, motors, wells, electricity, controls, piping, rigging, chemicals, and well rehabilitation tools
- Extremely safety conscious and understands hazards and dangers associated with the job
- Valid state driver’s license and Class A CDL
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to maintain company equipment including pump rig, service truck, welder, generator, hand tools, power tools, grinders, drills, chain wrenches, and come-along
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions
- Problem-solving skills when faced with obstacles
- Ability to promote additional company offered services
- Ability to train new employees
Additional Requirements/Skills
- Physical demands: Regularly talk and hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands to operate small hand tools, reach with hands and arms, lift up to 70 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs
- Specific vision abilities: Close vision, and ability to adjust focus

- Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment
- Able to work in inclement outdoor weather conditions, including cold or hot
- Able to work overnight for up to 2 weeks at a time
