Position Summary

The Pump Assembler pulls parts as defined in customer work orders and assembles pumps using engineering drawings in accordance with established standards.

Measures of Success

  • Achieve the production plan as defined in the annual budget
  • Maintains inventory accuracy and performs cycle counts as defined in the branch’s annual objectives
  • 100% compliance with Hydroflo’s safety requirements
  • No assembly related customer complaints

Responsibilities

  • Verifies that all parts are correct and available to assemble current job.
  • Lifts and carries materials and equipment throughout work areas using appropriate equipment.
  • Uses proper lift methods for using electric hoist.
  • Assembles assigned product parts in accordance with work orders, Bill of Materials, blueprints and engineering drawings, following production standards and guidelines.
  • Uses hydraulic press, air drills, hand wrenches, tape measures and calipers during assembly.
  • Performs spot checks of products to ensure adherence to approved quality standards.
  • Verifies measurements for accuracy and reports any problems or discrepancies to management.
  • Signs quality control inspection sheet for each completed job.
  • Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
  • Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
  • Safety shoes are mandatory.
  • Maintains neat and orderly work areas at all times.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to achieve forklift driving certification
  • 2+ years of mechanical experience
  • Must be able to read and understand detailed work orders and translate that information into the pump assembly process, including basic math and measurement conversions
  • Able to work with hands using small hand tools, lifts, etc., for pump assembly process
  • Ability to manage multiple projects where priority changes based on customer demand is frequent
  • Capability of communicating easily with supervisor and peers in a team environment
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Able to lift up to 75 pounds and up to 150 pounds with assistance
  • No travel required

Work Environment

This position works primarily in a production floor environment where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas. This position reports into the site every day. This position has no direct reports.
