Pulmonology Nurse Practitioner

About the role

Essen Health Care, the largest privately held multispecialty medical group in New York, is seeking a compassionate Pulmonary Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join its outpatient team. The NP will deliver comprehensive pulmonary care, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, and contribute to the organization’s population‑health model that serves vulnerable and underserved residents across more than 50 locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide pulmonology consults in outpatient settings.
• Assess and manage respiratory conditions such as COPD, asthma, sleep apnea, and chronic respiratory failure.
• Conduct respiratory‑focused evaluations and interpret pulmonary tests and imaging.
• Manage oxygen therapy, inhalers, nebulizer treatments, and other respiratory medications.
• Collaborate with pulmonologists and interdisciplinary teams.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory disease management and smoking cessation.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation and participate in quality‑improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of experience (hospital or outpatient office experience considered).
• Active and unrestricted NP license and DEA license.
• CPR certification (BCLS/BLS).
• Master’s degree in Nursing (NP applicants) and graduation from an accredited NP program.
• Preferred: Experience in pulmonary care (training available if not).
• Preferred: Familiarity with EMR systems (e.g., Sigma, Visual, PCC – training provided).
