Responsibilities

  • Responds as soon as possible to stats and produces accurate well-presented reports.
  • Expedites interpretation and communicates results.
  • Provides technical support in other sections of medicine as needed such as Cardiology and GI.
  • Arterial Blood Gas draw and analysis.
  • Follows up on assignments to ensure that work is appropriately performed.
  • Reports unusual occurrences and provides adequate coverage.
  • Communicates with management in a pro-active manner.
  • Maintains equipment in good working order maintains clean and safe environment as well as, maintain adequate supplies with fiscal accountability.
  • Ensures that staff working in the lab or performing test are properly trained.
  • Documents competency of staff.
  • Teaches students the basic of PFT testing.
  • Provides back up for Point of Care testing Coordinator for arterial blood gas, lactate and co-oximetry testing.
  • Reviews lab procedures and results and ensures quality testing is performed.
  • Provides back up for Point of Care testing Coordinator for arterial blood gas, lactate and co-oximetry testing.
  • Maintaining proficiency testing for JCAHO and CAP and STATE New procedures and equipment evaluation.
  • Implements, modifies and evaluates procedures and policies in an innovative and cost effective manner.
  • Enters charges for the Pulmonary Lab, Pulmonary Rehab and Bronchoscopy through Eclipsys.
  • Aids the Department of Pulmonary Medicine by making rounds daily and recording emergency kit numbers.
  • Aids the Department of Pulmonary Medicine by checking kit dates for current status and replacing as necessary.
  • Aids the Department of Pulmonary Medicine by checking the contents (PSI) of the designated emergency tanks of each patient unit and replacing as necessary.
  • Aids the Department of Pulmonary Medicine by conducting monthly environmental rounds for the Department of Pulmonary Medicine; providing manager with report of any deficiencies / violations and inputs requisitions for any necessary repairs.
  • Presents results of monthly ABG Critical Value Result audits to manager of Pulmonary Medicine QA.
  • E. Order, clean, or restock supplies needed in the pulmonary department.

Requirements

  • Registered Cardiopulmonary Technologist RPFT Credentials: BLS
