PUCT, Legal Secretary (Legal Secretary III - IV)
About the role
The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) is seeking a motivated professional to join its Legal Division. The Legal Division represents the public interest by advocating for Commission staff in contested cases before the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH) and the PUCT. The division provides legal analysis, case strategy, and litigation support in matters involving electric, telecommunications, and water and sewer utilities.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, proofread, and process legal documents.
- Cook up legal filings.
- Maintain service lists and legal records.
- Ensure documents are processed accurately and in compliance with applicable rules, procedures, and deadlines.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of three years of paid full-time experience performing legal secretarial work, providing high-level administrative support in a legal or office setting or performing records management in a regulatory agency.
Qualifications
- Legal Secretary III: High school diploma or GED equivalent, and a minimum of three years of paid full-time experience performing legal secretarial work, providing high-level administrative support in a legal or office setting or performing records management in a regulatory agency.
- Legal Secretary IV: High school diploma or GED equivalent, and a minimum of four years of paid full-time experience performing legal secretarial work, providing high-level administrative support in a legal or office setting or performing records management in a regulatory agency.

Pay
Starting salary will be determined based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience within the advertised salary range. The salary of an ERS retiree or non-contributing member may be 6% less than the recommended salary.
Schedule
The PUCT operates on a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Employees may request an alternative work schedule in accordance with the PUCT's Alternative Work Schedule Policy.
