PUCT, Legal Assistant (Legal Assistant II - III)
About the role
The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) seeks a motivated Legal Assistant to support attorneys in contested cases, rulemakings, licensing matters, and other regulatory proceedings. The ideal candidate will assist with legal research, document preparation, and case coordination.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal and regulatory research
- Prepare and review legal documents
- Cookordination case activities
- Track deadlines
- Support hearings
- Support legal proceedings before the Commission and SOAH
Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess the following minimum qualifications:
- Legal Assistant II Certification or equivalent
- A minimum of two years paid, full-time work experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, legal secretary, legal administrative assistant, or license permit specialist
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working for a state agency
- Experience supporting administrative law, regulatory, or litigation proceedings
- Experience conducting legal or regulatory research and drafting legal documents
- Experience using legal case management electronic filing or document management systems
Work Schedule
The PUCT operates on a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Employees may request an alternative work schedule.
Pay
Starting salary will be determined based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience within the advertised salary range.
