Public Works/Fleet - Equipment Transporter (part-time)

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or successful completion of GED
• Three (3) years’ experience as a CDL driver
• Knowledge of various types of vehicles and equipment
• Able to read a map and follow directions
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria
• State of Virginia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B at hire
• Must obtain the VA CDL Class A within 180 days of employment
• Preferred: State of Virginia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A upon hire
• Safety-sensitive position subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances
• Passes a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion

Additional Requirements

• Considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager
• Confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for personal counseling services
• Savings bonds available to the City's workforce
• Covered for Workers' Compensation where appropriate
