About the role
We are seeking an Emergency Vehicle Technician to join our team. This role requires a dedicated individual with strong technical skills and experience in maintaining and repairing emergency vehicles and specialized equipment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safety and reliability of emergency vehicles and equipment for first responders.
- Perform preventative maintenance checks, computerized diagnostics, and complex troubleshooting.
- Work on complicated motor control panels, switches, and emergency power supply systems.
- Obtain and maintain ASE certifications in relevant truck content areas.
- Hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A and pass necessary background checks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Vocational, technical, or trade school training in automotive technology preferred.
- Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience in fire trucks and/or ambulances, or three (3) years of experience with medium and heavy-duty vehicles.
- Experience with preventative maintenance, computerized diagnostics, and complex electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic troubleshooting.
- Five (5) years of full-time equivalent experience in repairing complicated motor control panels and switches and gasoline and diesel emergency power supply systems.
- Must obtain and maintain ASE certifications in "Electrical/Electronic Systems", "Diesel Engine", and "Medium/Heavy Brakes" within one year of employment.
- Must possess a State of Virginia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or have the ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
Qualifications
- Current Motor Vehicle Inspector certificate, licensed by the State of Virginia, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Ability to obtain ASE certifications within one year of employment.
- Complete set of automotive mechanic tools at all times.
