Public Works/Drainage - Construction Inspector

Minimum Requirements

• High school graduation or successful completion of GED.
• One (1) year work experience in stormwater construction projects required.
• Two (2) years’ experience in the construction, engineering, surveying or related field.
• Considerable knowledge of local and state construction and environmental codes and regulations.
• Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Erosion and Sediment Control Certification at time of employment.
• Certification from DEQ for Stormwater Inspector required within one (1) year of employment.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record based on City of Hampton’s criteria.
• Pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.

Additional Requirements

• Some duties to be performed outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
• May be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager.

7. I understand that if selected for this position, I must successfully pass a criminal background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
8. This Position Requires That You Possess a Valid Driver's License And Have And Maintain a Satisfactory Driving Record Based On The City Of Hampton's Criteria. Failure To Provide Your Driver's License Number Will Prevent Us From Considering Your Application.
