Public Utility Auditor IV and Lead/Advance
The Public Service Commission (PSC or Commission) regulates public utilities and certain passenger transportation companies in Maryland. The Commission regulates gas, electric, telephone, water, and sewage disposal companies, as well as electricity suppliers, fees for pilotage services, construction of generating stations, and common carriers engaged in transportation for hire.
About the role
The main purpose of this position is the development of appropriate revenue requirements for smaller public utilities under PSC jurisdiction through audits and analyses of accounting records in accordance with GAAP and PSC accounting, ratemaking, and regulatory policies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain appropriate revenue requirements for smaller public utilities under PSC jurisdiction through audits and analyses of accounting records in accordance with GAAP and PSC policies.
- Audit financial statements and financial data, providing effective written and verbal presentations to the Commission and other parties.
- Guide, lead, or train other employees in work assignments.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other business-related field from an accredited college or university with 30 credit hours in accounting and auditing.
- Experience: Two years of professional experience in accounting or auditing with a public utility company or utility regulatory agency.
Qualifications

Skills
The ideal candidate will have utility accounting and ratemaking experience, the ability to audit financial statements and data, and the ability to provide effective written and verbal presentations to the Commission and other parties. Experience guiding, leading, or training others is also desired.

Salary range: $69,423 - $94,133 per year.
