About the Role

Under close supervision as a trainee and productive worker, receives and responds to telephone or other electronic requests for emergency assistance including law enforcement, fire, medical, or other emergency services and/or dispatches appropriate units to response sites. Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

Acceptable courses (one of the following):

  • APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator
  • IAED Emergency Telecommunications
  • NECI Emergency Communications Officer

Emergency Medical Dispatch: May only be the NJEMD program.

CPR Basic Life Support Card from either:

  • American Heart Association (AHA)
  • American Red Cross (ARC)

If you do not have these certifications, the MCSO offers an academy four times a year to complete the certification process.

Requirements

  • Must be a New Jersey resident
  • Must be a legal U.S. resident
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Pass a thorough background investigation, psychological, and medical exam
  • Possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License

Monmouth County is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligible employer. Seasonal and temporary employees are not eligible.
