About the Role
The Resource Officer serves a supportive role to the Public Safety department. This position interacts with students, faculty, staff, visitors, and other members of the community, performing customer service duties to assist in maintaining a safe and healthy college environment. This position is designated as essential personnel.
Responsibilities
- Logs, screens, monitors, and tracks visitors while they are in the residence halls.
- Informs Public Safety Officers in the event of an incident or if activities of a questionable/suspicious nature are observed and appropriate action is required.
- Completes non-criminal incident reports (e.g., visitation violations) in the Omnigo system in a timely manner.
- Completes end-of-shift reports in the Omnigo System at the conclusion of each shift.
- Familiarizes themselves with public and college protocols, ordinances, statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Serves as a support agent for burglar and/or fire alarms to prevent or detect unauthorized intrusion, robbery, burglary, theft, pilferage, and other losses on or around the premises during shift.
- In the absence of a Public Safety Officer, escorts service personnel who enter campus buildings to service equipment, including but not limited to fire/burglar alarms, fire sprinkler service personnel, and other approved college vendors.
- Notifies appropriate personnel of unsafe structures, defective property, and dangerous conditions observed; may take protective measures until conditions are corrected.
- Logs all incident reports into the incident reporting system and sends them to the proper administrators for review and response in a timely manner.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Associates Degree in criminal justice preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in organized safety and/or community service work preferred.

Schedule
This position is categorized as “essential” and requires attendance during snow events, emergency situations (if required), and when the school is closed for business.
