Position Summary

Public Safety Radio Communications Field Service Technicians use Electronics, Radio Frequency, and IT knowledge and skills to support complex two-way radio and data networks. These positions also support telecommunications and public safety equipment in vehicles to maintain the communication services for public safety agencies in Wisconsin, including Wisconsin State Patrol, DMA, DNR, FBI, and Capitol Police along with many other federal, state, municipal and tribal public safety agencies.

Qualifications

  • Coursework/training in electronics technology related topics such as: system maintenance, two-way radio communications, AC or DC electronics; or experience in technical service or technical support related activities; or experience in a position in an electronics technology related field.
  • Experience installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, or maintaining electronics equipment or communications systems.

Pay

This position is in schedule-range (06-63) with an hourly rate of $32.64-$38.76, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

Successful applicants must have the ability to drive a state issued vehicle and independently respond to emergencies and routine maintenance along with supporting communications systems located in remote locations 24/7/365. This will include responding to emergencies on a 24-hour basis and working alone at night in remote locations.

Employees will be assigned a state-owned full-size sport utility vehicle or truck that may be kept at their home location (up to 45 miles from headquarters).
