About the role

Under the direction of the Director of Public Safety & Transportation, the Public Safety Operations Manager is responsible for delivering the highest level of customer service while maximizing operational efficiency. Main responsibilities include directing overall leadership, planning, administration, and management of assigned Public Safety & Transportation Department operations.

Responsibilities

  • Emergency Management, Incident Response & Risk Mitigation: ensures all operational matters are communicated to the Director of Public Safety & Transportation, reviews and completes incident reports, and assists in responding to emergencies.
  • Emergency Preparedness, Life Safety & Regulatory Compliance: maintains working relationships with public safety partners, coordinates emergency drills, and supports compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Operational Leadership & Cross-Functional Support: serves as a cross-functional leader, coordinates with internal departments and external stakeholders, and provides support across security operations, transportation operations, and event logistics.
  • Business Operations, Vendor & Financial Management: supports administration and oversight of vendor invoices, manages waste management operations, and assists with review and reconciliation of departmental expenditures.
  • Supervisor Responsibilities: manages assigned personnel, contractors, vendors, and operational partners, including planning, assigning, and directing work, performance assessments, and employee engagement.

Qualifications

  • Education & Professional Experience: some college coursework preferred, 3-5 years of experience in public safety, security, transportation operations, or a related field.
  • Public Safety, Transportation & Venue Operations: working knowledge of public safety operations, emergency preparedness, transportation planning, and event logistics.
  • Leadership & Professional Competencies: strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, excellent leadership skills, and good conflict resolution skills.

Skills

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) highly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with team members, clients, contractors, vendors, and government officials.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and operational priorities simultaneously.
  • Technology Skills: demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and preferred knowledge of event and venue management software.

Pay

This role pays an annual salary of $69,000-$79,000.
