The UT Police Department in Houston, TX is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Public Safety Officer to help protect and serve the University. Responsibilities

• Patrol university buildings and property on foot to prevent theft, vandalism or fire.
• Respond to calls for service and provide requested services in a timely manner and in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Actively screen all persons entering university facilities; challenge persons without appropriate identification and all suspicious persons.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid Texas Driver's License required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a customer‑focused position (2 years preferred).
• Physical ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Position is security sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215.
• Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.

Qualifications

• IAHSS Certification as a Security Officer preferred.
• One or more of the following certifications preferred: Certified Healthcare Security Officer, Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer, Certified Health Security Supervisor.
