About the Role
As a Public Safety Officer at MD Anderson Cancer Center, you will help ensure a safe and welcoming environment so patients, families, and employees can focus on care, research, and education. Public Safety Officers are essential to maintaining security and supporting the mission of the institution.
Responsibilities
- Provide information, directions, and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff
- Patrol campus by vehicle and on foot to monitor for suspicious activity and safety hazards
- Enforce institutional and parking regulations; issue permits and citations as needed
- Serve as a Campus Security Authority in compliance with the Clery Act
- Respond to emergencies and maintain calm, professional judgment under pressure
- Support institutional policies and ensure a safe environment for all individuals on campus
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of relevant work experience (customer interaction role preferred)
- Valid and current Texas driver's license with a minimum of three years' history of verifiable driving history (with less than three years but a minimum of one year, a waiver may be requested)
- Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources
Preferred Certification
- International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification at one or more levels (Certified Healthcare Security Officer, Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer, or Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor)

Pay
Minimum $18.00 - Midpoint $20.54 - Maximum $23.08 per hour based on a 40-hour work week.
Schedule
Full-time position with rotating shifts that may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
