About the role
This position provides security services with a customer-service approach, focusing on professionalism, fairness, and compassion. The role involves various responsibilities including security patrols, incident response, and liaison duties.
Responsibilities
- Ensures safety and security during interior and exterior patrols.
- Identifies vulnerabilities, hazards, and fire conditions during inspections.
- Audits Interim Life Safety Measures and manages patient valuables.
- Conducts thorough contraband searches and provides physical assistance.
- Assists with traffic control and monitors visitor conduct.
- Prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence.
- Responds to emergency situations and performs immediate physical interventions.
- Investigates incidents and completes timely reports.
- Serves as a primary resource for de-escalation and uses force when necessary.
- Plans, prevents, practices, and responds to emergencies.
- Liaises with law enforcement and first responders.
- Maintains Department uniform and equipment in good repair.
- Delivers security awareness education to team members.
- Coordinates and monitors law enforcement personnel.
- Maintains current Department training standards.
- Performs liaison rounding duties.
- Operates all necessary equipment to perform the job.
Requirements
- Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) from IAHSS.
- Unarmed Guard License in North Carolina.
- Stop the Bleed Certification.
- Valid driver’s license and FOID/CCW license.
- Certified in Conducted Energy Weapon (e.g. TASER).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Typically 1 year of experience in a security, related public safety, or customer service area.

- The ability to walk all areas of the facilities and grounds.
- The ability to restrain those who need restraint and assist clinical teammates with lifting patients.
