About the Role
Provides a crime prevention and life-safety presence on campus by observing and reporting. Facilitates use of the campus by opening, closing, and monitoring control of NSU property. Investigates campus incidents and occurrences. Communicates and coordinates with the NSU community to promote the crime prevention goals of the Public Safety Department through personal interaction and other methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Detects and responds to safety hazards to ensure safety of employees and visitors.
- Provides physical inspections and investigations on campus to ensure a safe environment.
- Conducts security and safety audits to identify hazards and dangers.
- Investigates accidents and injuries on campus to ensure proper record keeping.
- Completes activity logs and incident reports for proper documentation.
- Coordinates with local law enforcement concerning the investigation of incidents, crimes, and losses.
- Conducts fire system inspections and emergency response drills.
- Manages locking and unlocking access control for campus buildings.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous customer service experience.
- Current and valid Florida Driver’s License with no more than three (3) points.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Must be able to work any shift, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of bending, climbing, sitting, and/or standing for up to 8 hours.
- May be required to use various equipment/supplies, including pens, pencils, and computer keyboards.
Certifications & Licensures
- Parking enforcement specialist certification (preferred).
- Previous experience in public safety, security, or police work (preferred).
Pay
$15.75 per hour (annual basis).
