Key Responsibilities
- Patrol campus buildings, parking lots, and grounds to help ensure the safety and security of people and property.
- Enforce campus security and parking policies, including building access and key control procedures.
- Respond to emergencies, provide assistance to injured individuals, and coordinate with local emergency responders when necessary.
- Conduct investigations, complete incident reports, and maintain security records.
- Monitor security and life-safety systems, including fire, intrusion, and access control systems.
- Perform routine inspections of campus safety equipment and security measures.
- Provide security escorts, support campus events, and collaborate with departments on safety initiatives and emergency preparedness.
- Participate in safety training, emergency drills, and other professional development activities.
- Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining a visible, approachable presence on campus.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other non-traditional hours as needed.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Previous experience in campus safety, security, law enforcement, military service, emergency response, or related field desired.
- Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities include commitment to the mission and values of a faith-based university, strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, ability to exercise sound judgment, de-escalate conflicts, and respond effectively in emergencies, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality, proficiency with technology, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
