Job Description
Position Responsibilities:
- Patrols buildings and grounds to observe for adverse security and safety conditions.
- Makes entrances and exits authorized for employees, visitors, and others to prevent theft and maintain order.
- Reports hazardous conditions and illegal activities observed or documented.
- Enforces hospital policy during incidents using efficient and courteous procedures.
- Warns of rule infractions or violations and apprehends or evicts violators if necessary.
- Maintains a basic understanding of alarm technology and proficiency in safety equipment use.
- Responds to alarms and dispatched calls, deciding actions based on situation, facts known, and position limitations.
- Controls subjects, witnesses, visitors, patients, and staff in a courteous manner, protecting the scene and physical evidence.
- Prepares accurate reports of incidents observed.
- Identifies, gathers, or photographs physical evidence regarding the subject of the investigation.
- Provides testimony regarding incidents investigated in the course of duty.
- Assists the safety officer in identifying and resolving actual or potential safety hazards.
- Assists the Security Director in identifying and resolving potential or actual security vulnerabilities.
- Safeguards Security Posts as required under supervision.
- Responds to incidents as dispatched and as reflected in log entries.
- Fulfills supervisor instructions regarding details or functions.
- Acts as a member of the hazardous material spill team following provided training.
- Adheres to Customer Service Standards as defined by the Security and Safety Department.
- Remains familiar with and adheres to MSMC and Security Department regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Qualifications
- Security License preferred.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention training within first 90 days of employment.
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s license with a “good” driving history (no D.U.I. or felony traffic violations) and no more than 4 points.
- High school diploma required.
- 5+ years of previous security experience, prior experience in law enforcement / military preferred.
