Responsibilities
- Ensures safety and security during interior and exterior patrols, including inspections, audits, and contraband searches.
- Assists with information provision, direction, and physical help to patients, visitors, and team members.
- Maintains traffic control and monitors visitor conduct.
- Prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence.
- Responds to service calls involving combative or threatening patients or visitors and team member incidents.
- Serves as a primary resource for de-escalation and uses use of force when necessary.
- Performs emergency planning, prevention, practice, and response, including handling lost or abducted infants/children, fires, and active threats.
- Investigates incidents and completes timely and accurate reports.
- Serves as a liaison to external law enforcement and first responder agencies.
- Coordinates, briefs, and monitors law enforcement personnel to ensure policy compliance and prevent unsafe practices.
- Delivers security awareness education to team members.
- Performs liaison rounding duties to cultivate partnerships with all departments and units.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, and radiation hazards.
Requirements
- Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) issued by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS).
- A valid driver’s license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicle.
- For Illinois teammates: Completion of State of Illinois 20-hour Basic Security Officer course.
- For Illinois teammates: Firearm Owners Identification Card (FOID) issued by the Illinois State Police.
- For Wisconsin teammates: Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
- Certified in Conducted Energy Weapon (e.g. TASER) use within 90 days of hire and periodically thereafter.
- High school graduate or GED.
- Typically requires 1 years of experience in a security, related public safety, or customer service area.

$21.85 - $32.80 per hour
Schedule
3rd shift: 23:00 - 07:00, with rotating weekends off
