The role of a Security Officer at AMC Summit involves providing security services with a customer-service approach, focusing on professionalism, fairness, and compassion. The position requires maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor, complying with safety and security rules, and performing various security tasks.
Responsibilities
- Ensures safety and security during interior and exterior patrols, including inspections, audits, and contraband searches.
- Assists patients, visitors, and team members by providing information, directions, and physical help.
- Monitors visitors and controls traffic, and confronts unauthorized persons.
- Prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence.
- Responds to service calls involving combative or threatening patients or visitors and team member incidents.
- Serves as a primary resource for de-escalation and uses use of force when necessary.
- Plans, prevents, practices, and responds to emergencies such as lost or abducted infants/children, fires, and active threats.
- Investigates incidents and completes timely and accurate reports.
- Serves as a liaison between various departments and law enforcement agencies.
- Performs liaison rounding duties to cultivate partnerships with all departments and units.
- Delivers security awareness education to team members.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, and radiation hazards.
Requirements
- Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) issued by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS).
- A valid driver’s license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicle.
- Firearm Owners Identification Card (FOID) issued by the Illinois State Police.
- Congcealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
- Certified in Conducted Energy Weapon (e.g. TASER) use within 90 days of hire and periodically thereafter.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED.
- Typically requires 1 years of experience in a security, related public safety, or customer service area.

Pay
The pay range for this role is $21.85 - $32.80 per hour.
Schedule
The schedule for this position is every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, working 24 hours per pay period in a 3rd shift.
