Public Safety Officer/Armed - Full Time - 1st Shift
Job Summary
The Armed Public Safety Officer is responsible for providing safety and security for the hospital during normal day-to-day operations and emergencies.
Department Specific Job Details
Shift: 7:00AM - 3:30PM, rotating weekends and holidays
Education: High school diploma or GED required
Certifications:
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
Must maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license (No SR-22)
Must meet all eligibility requirements for coverage under the hospital’s insurance policy
Must be able to obtain OPOTA Private Security Academy certification or Basic Peace Officer certification within 12 months of hire
OPOTA certification preferred at time of hire
Experience:
Previous law enforcement, military, corrections, hospital security, or armed security experience preferred
Experience working in healthcare or behavioral health environments preferred
Skills/Competencies:
Able to lift and move heavy objects as required
Able to carry a department-issued firearm and successfully qualify with required department standards
Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills
Able to work effectively in high-stress and fast-paced environments
Able to interact professionally with patients, families, visitors, and staff
