Public Safety Officer, Armed

Responsibilities

• Responsible for a variety of routine safety and emergency security activities while safeguarding students, employees, visitors, patients, and property.
• First responder to all emergency incidents within the assigned facility.
• Responsible for the safe de-escalation of critical events and the use of sound judgment in the engagement with combative or escalating subjects.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• 2 years of experience in general security, military or other public safety experience where required to actively carry a firearm in the regular course of duty Required
• or equivalence of training and job experience to support effective demonstration of responsible handling of weapons and use of force. Required

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid in-state driver’s license and adherence to Piedmont’s Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy 3500 upon hire
• IAHSS Certification as a Security Officer within 1 year of hire
• Carry non-lethal weapons such as a Taser CEW and/or a baton
• Carry company-issued firearm
• Must pass pre-employment psychological screening
• Must pass and maintain all training requirements to maintain employment, including certifications in Firearms, Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid, and others as directed
• Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification preferred
