Public Safety Officer 11-7

Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities

Protect life and property and able to respond to all types of emergencies on campus
Patrol assigned areas to ensure personal, building and equipment security.
Warn violators of rule infractions
Enforce traffic and parking violations
Enforce all applicable campus rules and regulations plus NY State Penal Law when appropriate
Assist in emergency situations as needed

Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; college preferred.

Training, Skills, Knowledge And Experience

• Prior law enforcement and/or security experience preferred
• Must have good written, verbal communication and organizational skills
• General computer knowledge is required
• Valid NY State driver's license and good driving record required
• Must have valid NY State security guard license and have completed both the 8 hour and 16 hour security guard training
• Must have in possession updated CPR/AED and First Aid Training

Working Conditions

• Must be able to demonstrate physical fitness
• Able to stand for a long period of time
• Able to walk for long period of time
• Climb stairs
• Being exposed to outdoor weather conditions
• Able to assist in lifting a person at least 150 pounds onto stretcher into ambulance
• Able to work shifts as needed
