Salary

Competitive pay starting at $56,897-$74,477, plus up to $2,838 monthly health benefits allowance, bilingual incentive pay, and excellent retirement benefits. Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on the position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization.

Training and Experience

A typical way of qualifying would be: Equivalent to graduation from high school and one (1) year of employment which has included regular contact with the public. Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) Certification is desirable and must be obtained within one year.

Requirements

Must be able to pass a background investigation. Must be willing to work evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts on a rotation basis. Must be willing to be called back or held over to maintain minimum staffing levels. Must obtain Post Basic Dispatcher and Department of Justice CLETS/CJIS operator certifications prior to completion of probation as a Public Safety Dispatcher I.

Background Disqualifiers

An adult felony conviction in California, or with a conviction for an offense in another state which would be classified as a felony in California. Currently on Probation or Parole. Adult felony and/or misdemeanor conviction(s) may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and how recent. Conviction of/or sustained petitions for any sex crime. Recent use and/or possession of illegal drugs, weapons or explosive devices without legal authorization. History of committing domestic violence or animal cruelty. Dishonesty or failure to reveal pertinent information.
