About the role
Performs a variety of semi-skilled, manual and supportive tasks involved in the maintenance of buildings, structures, and equipment at a County landfill, and the general care of the surrounding grounds; assists in maintaining and servicing trucks and equipment; and performs other related duties as required.

Requirements
- A combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school and two (2) years of experience involving the maintenance of building, grounds, and equipment.
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as applicable to the position.
- Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License, Type B, with X endorsement.
- Possession of a current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of methods, tools, equipment, and materials used in carpentry, painting, plumbing, automotive, and electrical maintenance work.
- Ability to operate an assigned truck skillfully and safely.
- Ability to recognize defects and make minor repairs to building, electrical and plumbing fixtures.
- Ability to use hand tools utilized in a variety of building trades.
- Ability to operate and maintain power mowers and other motorized equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written communication and instructions.
Skills

Pay
Pay raises are negotiated by the respective union for this position.
Schedule
Work involves rotating shifts, long or irregular work hours, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, working on ladders or elevated surfaces.
