PUBLIC RELATIONS SPECIALIST
About the role
To strengthen and safeguard UAB's brand as a part of the Public Relations (PR) team through strategic content creation, management, and media relations, ensuring proactive and responsive communication. The PR specialist will support UAB's health and medicine enterprise by developing accurate, compliant messaging that reflects the institution's education, research, clinical and community service priorities. They will collaborate closely with university and Health System professionals to translate information into clear, audience-friendly communications. This role ensures that all external messaging aligns with appropriate guidelines, regulatory requirements and organizational priorities.
Responsibilities
- Create and manage strategic content for UAB's brand
- Develop and implement media relations strategies
- Collaborate with university and Health System professionals to produce clear, audience-friendly communications
- Ensure all external messaging aligns with appropriate guidelines, regulatory requirements and organizational priorities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations or a related field
- Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Experience in public relations, marketing, or a related field
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards
