Public Relations/Social Media Intern

Location(s): Columbia, S.C. or Charlotte, N.C. The Chernoff Newman internship program aims to offer a well-rounded experience that includes a deep dive of agency life. Chernoff Newman’s interns do not simply fetch coffee or stuff envelopes; they are immersed in our account and client teams and work. The program offers three internships each year in the fall, spring and summer semesters, aligning with the applicant’s school schedule. A Public Relations/Social Media intern at Chernoff Newman will assist in many ways including press release writing and distribution, social media writing, planning and analyzing, and other traditional public relations tasks that may arise while the intern is at the agency. The selected candidate will work in-person in either the Columbia or Charlotte office. Responsibilities And Work Projects Include Assisting in coordination and implementation of various projects/client accountsWriting press releases, creating media lists and assisting in press release distributionDrafting social media content for client and agency accountsProviding research and data entry supportCreating analytics reports for various departments including PR/social, paid media and web Candidate Requirements Self-starter with a strong desire to learnExceptional time management skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExisting knowledge of traditional social media platformsCurrent enrollment in a related BS or BA Applicants are expected to work 15-20 hours each week and are compensated $12/hour.
