About the role
Highwire’s Internship Program provides hands-on PR experience in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. Interns join real client teams and gain exposure across multiple industries.
Responsibilities
- Attend client meetings and translate discussions into actionable next steps
- Compile media coverage into client-facing clip reports
- Research reporters, blogs, and social media platforms to support campaigns
- Draft pitches, press releases, blog posts, and other communications materials
- Conduct customer interviews and support case study development
- Auxiliary social media strategy, content creation, and digital marketing campaigns
- Conduct trend and industry research to inform PR and marketing efforts
- Support advanced measurement and reporting for campaigns
- Provide general organizational and administrative support to client teams
Success Factors
- College graduate with a PR, Communications, or related degree—or equivalent experience—and a strong interest in PR and communications
- Enthusiastic self-starter with a positive, proactive attitude
- Strong writing, editing, and attention-to-detail skills
- Comfortable navigating social media and digital platforms
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Background in journalism, English, political campaigns, technology, or marketing is a plus
- Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and contribute meaningfully to client work

Additional Internship Details
- This is a paid, six-month internship at $20 per hour, with a performance review at the three-month mark. Top-performing interns may be considered for full-time employment.
- This internship is based in our New York, NY or San Francisco, CA offices and requires a hybrid schedule of 2 days in-office per week.
