Public Officer

Duties / Knowledge & Skills

• Replaces returned books, periodicals, and other library materials to the proper shelf location.
• Affords assistance in routine clerical work associated with the circulation and processing of books, periodicals, and other library materials.
• Lifts and moves boxes of books and other library materials.
• Provides information and assistance to patrons.
• Performs other job related duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

• Some knowledge of alphabetical and numerical filing systems.
• Desirable: Some general clerical experience and/or knowledge of general office procedures.
• Ability to operate standard office machines and equipment.
• Valid California Class C driver’s license.

Special Requirement: Ability and a willingness to work a flexible schedule.

All candidates appointed to this position who are under the age of 18 and have not graduated from high school will be required to obtain a work permit by the date of hire.
