Public Information Officer DEM

About the role

The Utah Division of Emergency Management is seeking a Public Information Officer to support the division in administering employee and stakeholder communications strategy. This role involves acting as a media liaison and spokesperson, preparing and disseminating information, and responding to media inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a media liaison and spokesperson
• Prepares messages for public education and awareness
• Develops and packages information for social media, emails, publications, and websites
• Responds to GRAMA requests
• Coordinates IPAWS messaging
• Serves as project manager for division websites
• Enforces DEM and department visual brand
• Resolves public information issues
• Represents DEM at public events and community activities
• Serves on boards, councils, committees, or task forces
• Assists with policies and legislative requirements
• Participates in the Public Information Officers Association and helps plan the annual conference

Pay

Salary range: $34.91 - $57.10 per hour
