About the role
The Utah Division of Emergency Management is seeking a Public Information Officer to support the division in administering employee and stakeholder communications strategy. This role involves acting as a media liaison and spokesperson, preparing and disseminating information, and responding to media inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a media liaison and spokesperson
- Prepares messages for public education and awareness
- Develops and packages information for social media, emails, publications, and websites
- Responds to GRAMA requests
- Coordinates IPAWS messaging
- Serves as project manager for division websites
- Enforces DEM and department visual brand
- Resolves public information issues
- Represents DEM at public events and community activities
- Serves on boards, councils, committees, or task forces
- Assists with policies and legislative requirements
- Participates in the Public Information Officers Association and helps plan the annual conference

- Use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts associated with information or data
- Speak clearly, concisely, and effectively
- Understand applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies
- Understand the agency and its organizational program(s)
- Use word processing, presentation, layout/design, video streaming, and web-publishing software applications

Pay
Salary range: $34.91 - $57.10 per hour
