Responsibilities
- Lead media relations efforts to enhance TRPA’s reputation and influence public opinion on environmental issues.
- Develop and implement public outreach strategies to engage diverse stakeholders in Lake Tahoe’s conservation efforts.
- Create compelling print and digital communications materials that educate and inform residents, visitors, elected officials, and partner agencies about TRPA’s programs and policies.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.
- Manage social media platforms to increase engagement and visibility for TRPA’s initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of press releases, newsletters, and other content that highlights environmental successes and challenges.
- Support event planning and execution to foster community involvement and awareness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in public relations, journalism, or environmental communications.
- Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to craft clear, concise, and engaging content.
- Experience managing social media campaigns and understanding the impact of online communication.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with graphic design software.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on environmental conservation.
- Knowledge of Lake Tahoe’s ecosystem and its unique challenges.
- Understanding of environmental policy and stakeholder engagement techniques.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
