The mission of the Secretary of State's office is to serve the public by meeting its legal responsibilities of collecting, securing and communicating information that enhances commerce, ensures the integrity of Louisiana's elections and preserves, presents and makes accessible government information essential to Louisiana's operations and its recorded history.
About the role
The Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office is seeking a dynamic Public Information Officer 1, 2 or 3 to craft and deliver transparent communications that keep the public informed and engaged.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Three years of experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, content creation, social media management, or graphic design; OR
- Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR
- A bachelor's degree.
Experience Substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Responsibilities
- Manage social media initiatives.
- Respond to media inquiries.
- Draft and edit speeches, talking points, and publications.
- Maintain media distribution lists.
- Provide graphic design support.
- Research, write, and assist in the design of informational materials.
- Monitor and track legislation.
- Curate and distribute a daily newsletter.
- Attend training and assist in diplomatic protocol.
