About the role

The Castine Historical Society seeks a dedicated individual to join our team as a Historian. This position will involve researching, documenting, and presenting the rich history of Castine, Maine.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct historical research on Castine’s past
  • Develop and maintain exhibits and educational programs
  • Write articles and blog posts for the society’s website and newsletter
  • Manage the collections and ensure their preservation
  • Collaborate with community partners to promote historical awareness

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Archaeology, or related field
  • Experience in museum work or historical research
  • Strong writing and public speaking skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
