Job Responsibilities

This position position will be housed at the Columbus Health Department and will provide professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies, and/or procedures. You will support the Department by utilizing your expertise to fulfill the following responsibilities:

• Function as an expanded-role nurse based out of the Columbus Health Department
• Aid in the overseeing of the daily functions of nursing staff
• Provide nursing care consistent with the patient’s level of need
• Utilize the EMR system to accurately document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement
• Order and dispense medications based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol
• Will be responsible for collaborating with the office manager to minimize patient wait time, ensure adequate nursing coverage, and assist with patient care
• Support staff with outreach events, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire
• CURRENT Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification
• One (1) year of experience at the lower-level PH Registered Nurse 1 (HCP190) or position equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in nursing and two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse
• Public Health experience
