About the role

The Pima County Health Department is seeking a Public Health Program Specialist I to join the Maternal Child Health-Healthy Arizona Families Program within the Community Outreach, Prevention, and Education (COPE) Division. This is a grant-funded position ending June 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Organize program activities, timelines, and resources to ensure smooth program execution
  • Collaborate with program staff to achieve program objectives and deliverables
  • Track program progress and maintain documentation
  • Engage with the community through outreach efforts and events
  • Maintain program documentation, including progress reports, meeting minutes, and correspondence
  • Provide administrative support to program managers and coordinators
  • Handle routine administrative tasks as required
  • Stay informed about public health best practices and trends through ongoing learning and training opportunities
  • Seek opportunities for professional growth within the public health field

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One year of experience in the Public Health program related field
  • Minimum six (6) months experience working with pregnant women, infants, and toddlers
  • Minimum six (6) months experience working with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Minimum six (6) months experience working in a health/social services field

Qualifications

  • Valid driver license required at time of application and appointment
  • Must pass a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review
  • Must complete a satisfactory personal background investigation
  • Must provide proof of immunizations or a TB screening
